Big East Men's Basketball Tournament Outright Odds

The Big East ended the regular season with just two teams ranked in the AP Poll, and neither of those teams is the reigning National Champion UConn Huskies.

UConn had a down year while Rick Pitino's St. John's was the story of the conference as the Red Storm finished atop the regular season standings.

Heading into the 2025 Big East Tournament, let's take a look at the outright odds.

The St. John's Red Storm (27-4, 18-2 Big East) are the favorites to win the Big East Tournament (+145) after finishing sixth in the AP Poll. That's the program's highest ranking since legendary head coach Lou Carnesecca's 1990/91 team with three future NBA players made a run to the quarterfinals of the national tournament.

This season, the Red Storm has found success through dominating the interior. They're a top-10 team nationwide in offensive rebounding percentage (38.0 percent), just over 30 percent of their shots come from behind the three-point line (21st-lowest), and they're eighth in block percentage (15.6 percent). KJ Luis, a 6-foot-7 guard, and 6-foot-9 forward Zuby Ejiofor lead the team in scoring while Kadary Richmond and Deivon Smith lead the team in assists.

The Creighton Bluejays (22-9, 15-5 Big East) and reigning National Champion UConn Huskies (22-9, 14-6 Big East) are tied for the second-shortest odds (+400).

Bluejays center Ryan Kalkbrenner led the conference in field goal percentage (66.3 percent), rebounds (9.0 per game) and blocks (2.7 per game) while also leading his team with 19.4 points per game. Plus, this team hardly fouls, sending its opponents to the line for just 11.4 free throw attempts per game, the fewest in the nation. It also helps that three players average at least 3.5 assists.

The Huskies have had an up-and-down year due to injuries and general inconsistency. The production of forward Alex Karaban — who was tabbed as this season's star after helping the team to two national titles in the past two seasons — dipped, and sharpshooter Liam McNeeley missed time with injuries. Still, this team can dominate inside thanks to Samson Johnson and Tarris Reed Jr., and the team ranks in the top 20 nationwide in blocks (first), assists (fifth), free throw percentage (10th) and two-point field goal percentage (20th).

The Marquette Golden Eagles (22-9, 13-7 Big East) are fourth in the betting (+550). Led by do-it-all guard Kam Jones, the team started the season with a 2-1 record against ranked teams but ended the season with a 2-4 record in such games. But Jones got more help from David Joplin, Stevie Mitchell and Chase Ross as the season went on, which is a good sign for Shaka Smart's team's tournament hopes.

The Xavier Musketeers (21-10, 13-7 Big East) have the fifth-shortest odds (+850) to win the Big East Tournament. This is a team that shoots the ball well and shares it, as the Musketeers are 15th in three-point percentage (38.5 percent), 18th in assists per game (17.0) and fifth in assists percentage (64.3 percent).

The Villanova Wildcats (18-13, 11-9 Big East) are the last team with a decent shot of winning the conference tournament (+1500). Forward Eric Dixon led the nation with 23.6 points per game while shooting a Big East-high 42.9 percent from three, and this team ranked second in the country in three-point percentage (39.8 percent), making them a threat to heat up and build big leads.

The long shots to win the tournament are the Butler Bulldogs (+8000), Georgetown Hoyas (+10000), Providence Friars (+15000), DePaul Blue Demons (+30000) and Seton Hall Pirates (+30000).
