A pair of Americans ranked in the ATP Tour's top 40 players, No. 21 Ben Shelton and No. 37 Brandon Nakashima, clash in the first round of the Australian Open.
The two players have met twice in their professional careers, and both matches happened last year, in 2024. Shelton won both matches in two sets, one of which took place on hardcourt at the DC Open and the other having been played on clay at the US Men's Clay Court Championship in Houston.
Shelton has not played a competitive match this season, while Nakashima lost his only contest in two sets to Lorenzo Sonego on hardcourt at the Hong Kong Open in late December.
As is the case with all Australian Open matches at the time of writing, a date and time has not been announced for this match. Daily schedules will be released every day around 2 AM ET (6 PM Australian Eastern Daylight Time) for the next day's run of play.
