The No. 23 Kansas State Wildcats host the No. 20 Oklahoma State Cowboys in Week 5, and K-State QB Avery Johnson will look to continue his solid start to the season.
That being said, the Wildcats are coming off their first setback of the season, a 38-9 blowout loss to unranked BYU. The loss saw K-State's conference record fall to 1-1, so they'll look to finish the season strong in the hopes of snagging a spot in the expanded, 12-team College Football Playoff.
Oklahoma State is in a similar boat. They're 3-1 overall with a 1-1 conference record, and the Cowboys are coming off a 22-19 loss to Utah, who were without their starting QB.
In this game, Oklahoma State will have the challenge of containing a quarterback who has proven himself as a major difference-maker at this level.
Johnson is a dual-threat QB who is averaging 155.0 passing yards per game and 65.3 rushing yards per game through four contests.
As a passer, the second-year QB has completed 58/95 passes (61.1 percent) for 620 yards and a 6-3 TD-INT ratio. On the ground, he has rushed 39 times for 261 yards and an average of 6.7 yards per carry.
Johnson had posted pretty consistent passing stat lines before he played his worst game of the season against BYU.
He completed 14/21 passes for 153 yards and a 2-1 TD-INT ratio in Week 1 vs. Tennessee-Martin, followed that by completing 15/23 passes for 181 yards and two TDs vs. Tulane, and then went 14/23 for 156 yards and two TDs against Arizona.
Last weekend against BYU, Johnson completed just 15/28 passes for 130 yards and a 0-2 TD-INT ratio. It was his first time throwing for under 150 yards this season, and his only game so far without a TD pass.
Regarding his running game, Johnson's usage on the ground depends on the situation. He had three carries for 37 yards in Week 1, eight carries for 40 yards in Week 2, 17 carries for 110 yards in Week 3, and 11 carries for 6.7 yards last week against BYU.
Ahead of this weekend's Big 12 matchup against Oklahoma State, let's look at Johnson's player props, odds and lines.
