A handful of ATP250 events kick off clay court tennis season this week, and many of the highest-profile American stars are competing at ATP Houston.
This tournament is the clay court championship of the United States, and everyone in the field will be looking to gain confidence on the surface early in clay season, as it lasts until the French Open final on June 8th.
Here, we'll look at the outright odds to win the ATP Houston tournament.
Tommy Paul | +300 |
Frances Tiafoe | +550 |
Brandon Nakashima | +750 |
Tomas Martin Etcheverry | +800 |
Jenson Brooksby | +1100 |
Learner Tien | +1200 |
Alex Michelsen | +1600 |
Jordan Thompson | +1800 |
Alejandro Tabilo | +1800 |
Tommy Paul (+300), the World No. 13 and the highest-ranked player in the field, is the pre-tournament favorite to win in Houston.
Paul has a 13-5 win-loss record in 2025, but he was most recently eliminated in the round of 32 at the Miami Open. He had more success back in January at the Australian Open, where he got to the quarterfinals before he lost to World No. 2 Alexander Zverev in four sets. He struggles slightly on clay compared to a hard court, winning two percent less of his service points and one percent less of all points.
World No. 17 Frances Tiafoe (+550) has the second-shortest odds to win in Houston. Tiafoe has started 2025 with a 6-6 win-loss record, but he got to the final of last year's ATP Houston, where he lost to compatriot Ben Shelton, who is not participating in this year's edition.
Third in the odds is another American, Brandon Nakashima (+750). The California native is 10-8 so far this year, and in last year's ATP Houston, he lost to Shelton in the quarterfinals. Still, in his career, he has managed to win a solid 65 percent of service points, 37 percent of return points and 51 percent of all points.
Tomas Martin Etcheverry has the fourth-shortest outright odds (+800), and he is the last player — and only non-American — with odds shorter than 10/1. The Argentine World No. 44 has a 7-9 record this year, and two of those losses were to newly-crowned Miami Open champion Jakub Mensik. Etcheverry is solid on clay, winning two percent more return points and one percent more total points on clay than he does overall.
Jenson Brooksby (+1100) and World No. 69 Learner Tien (+1200) are next in the betting. Brooksby hasn't played on clay since 2022, making him something of an unknown quantity entering this tournament, while Tien is 6-6 in 2025 but has beaten Zverev, Cameron Norrie and Daniil Medvedev since January.
Further back in the odds, from 16/1 to 25/1, are Alex Michelsen, Jordan Thompson, Alejandro Tabilo, Cristian Garin, Kei Nishikori, and Daniel Elahi Galan.
