The Braves and Padres meet on Opening Day in a rematch of the 2024 NL Wild Card series.
San Diego beat Atlanta 2-0 in that series in October 2024, and both teams have expectations to reach the postseason again in 2025.
The Braves were banged up in that series, without star players like Ronald Acuna Jr. – who will start the season in the 15-day IL as he recovers form a torn ACL - Austin Riley, Chris Sale, Spencer Strider and more. Atlanta will field a much healthier lineup to open the 2025 season, including with 2024 Cy Young winner Sale on the bump.
The Padres are expected to be one of the most exciting teams in baseball yet again, powered by superstars Manny Machado and Fernando Tatis Jr. in the heart of the lineup, not to mention second-year budding star Jackson Merrill, leadoff man Luis Arraez and shortstop Xander Bogaerts.
