Boise State Broncos running back Ashton Jeanty is the new Heisman Trophy favorite after another three-touchdown performance in Week 6.
Jeanty is now +225 to win the award, ahead of Colorado CB/WR Travis Hunter (+350), Miami QB Cam Ward (+450) and Alabama QB Jalen Milroe (+1000).
The third-year Broncos back had his fourth game with three or more TDs this weekend against Utah State, scoring three times on 13 carries for 186 yards.
Through five games, Jeanty leads all Division I players in rush yards (1,031), yards per carry (10.9), and total touchdowns (16, all rushing TDs). His ability to break tackles and separate from defenders with his speed has set him apart from his opponents.
His best game was in Week 1, when he torched Georgia Southern for 267 yards and six TDs on 20 carries.
In Week 2, he scored a hat-trick of TDs and gained 192 yards on 25 carries in a 37-34 loss to then-No. 3 Oregon, which has the 24th-best rush defense in the country.
He has rushed for less than 150 yards just once this season, when he rushed 11 times for 127 yards and no scores in a 56-14 win over Portland State in Week 3.
In games in which he has scored in 2024, Jeanty has never found the end zone less than three times. He scored six times in Week 1, three times in Week 2, four times in Week 5, and three times in Week 6.
Boise State is now ranked 17th in the AP Poll. The toughest opponents for Jeanty on the remaining schedule are UNLV, which allows the 18th-fewest rush yards per game, and Hawaii, which allows the 46th-fewest rush yards per game of the 134 Division I football programs.
