Arch Manning Heisman Trophy Odds: Texas QB +1600 to take home the trophy

Texas Longhorns quarterback Arch Manning has the eighth-shortest odds to win the Heisman Trophy ahead of his first College Football start.

Manning is now +1600 to bring home the trophy at the end of the season. The second-year player entered the season at +12500 to win the award.

He is slated to start against Louisiana-Monroe this weekend after the usual Longhorns starting QB, Quinn Ewers, picked up an injury in last week's 56-7 win over Texas-San Antonio.

Manning took over in that game after Ewers' injury, and he completed 9/12 passes for 223 yards and four passing TDs while also scoring a rushing TD that resulted from a 67-yard run.

After two appearances so far in the 2024 campaign, Manning has completed 14/18 passes for 318 yards and a 5-0 TD-INT ratio, and he has two rushing TDs.

Plus, Manning has averaged 22.7 yards per catch, which is third among Division I QBs to have thrown at least 10 passes this season.

Texas is a 44.5-point favorite heading into this weekend's game against Louisiana-Monroe. Just winning this game will not see Manning seal the starting job over Ewers, but if Ewers' injury keeps him out for an extended period, Manning would then be tested enough to give himself a case to start over the incumbent QB.

The Longhorns' schedule heats up in October with SEC play beginning. The Red River Rivalry at No. 15 Oklahoma is on Oct. 12, followed by a home game against No. 2 Georgia the following weekend.

If Manning plays - and plays well - in those games, his Heisman odds could get even shorter.
