Michigan quarterback Alex Orji will make his first collegiate start this weekend against USC in a clash between ranked Big Ten teams.
The USC Trojans enter this game with a 2-0 record and the No. 11 ranking on the latest AP Poll, while the reigning National Champion Michigan Wolverines are 2-1 and ranked 18th.
Orji has primarily been used as a running QB at Michigan up to this point. He has 31 rushing attempts and seven pass attempts in his 12 appearances for the Wolverines over three seasons.
Michigan had started Davis Warren in its first three games, but the team went 2-1 with the loss being a 31-12 blowout to new No. 1 Texas. In his last start in a 28-18 win over Arkansas State, Warren completed 11/14 passes for just 122 yards, three interceptions, and no touchdowns.
In the Arkansas State win, Orji threw Michigan's only touchdown pass, which was one of his two completions on four attempts that day. He ran the ball three times for 27 yards.
With Orji under center, it's likely that the team will have a heavy focus on running the ball. Michigan currently has a balanced attack of 26.0 pass attempts per game (103rd out of 134 Division I football teams) and 33.7 rushing attempts per game (80th) so far this season, but fans should expect that to change this week.
Ahead of Orji's first start and what should be a substantial change in his team's style of play, let's get into the QB's player props, odds and lines for this weekend's conference clash against Oklahoma.
