Ohio State kicks off its 2024 campaign on Saturday afternoon against Akron, and the Buckeyes are hoping it will be the first step towards a national championship.
Ohio State is expected to be one of, if not the most dominant team in the nation. That is reflected in their national title odds (+400) and odds to make the expanded 12-team College Football Playoff (-750).
Ryan Day’s team is absolutely juiced with NFL-caliber talent, including RB duo TreVeyon Henderson and Quinshon Judkins, WR Emeka Egbuka, S Caleb Downs, and DE J.T. Tuimoloau, to name a few.
The Buckeyes are 48.5-point favorites against Akron, a program that has combined for seven wins since 2018. The Zips have posted records of 0-12, 1-5, 2-10, 2-10 and 2-10 in their last five seasons.
Akron vs. Ohio State will be broadcast live on CBS, which can be viewed through traditional cable TV packages or streaming apps such as YouTube TV or fuboTV.
Streaming will also be available on Paramount+.
Akron vs. Ohio State will kick off at 3:30 PM ET / 2:30 PM CT on Saturday, August 31 from Ohio Stadium in Columbus, Ohio.
