Ace Bailey is one of the most polarizing prospects in the 2025 NBA Draft.
Bailey was the consensus No. 3 pick for much of the year leading up to the draft — behind projected No. 1 and No. 2 selections Cooper Flagg and Dylan Harper, respectively — but his stock has taken a hit in recent weeks.
Late at night on Wednesday, June 18th, just one week before the draft's first round takes place, it was reported that Bailey canceled his workout with the Philadelphia 76ers, who hold the No. 3 pick.
Bailey, who stands at 6-foot-10, averaged 17.6 points, 7.2 rebounds, 1.3 assists, 1.0 steal, and 1.3 blocks while shooting 46.0% overall in his one year at Rutgers.
In terms of his play, Bailey took plenty of midrange shots, struggled to finish through contact, and shot 34.6% from three-point range. He's a natural when it comes to getting buckets, but whichever team drafts him will have to help him become more efficient.
Ahead of the 2025 NBA Draft, let's take a look at Bailey's draft odds. The player is listed under his real name, Airious Bailey, on the sportsbook.
Number 1 Overall Pick | +15000 |
Number 2 Overall Pick | +2200 |
Number 3 Overall Pick | +425 |
Number 4 Overall Pick | +360 |
Number 5 Overall Pick | +290 |
Number 6 Overall Pick | +250 |
Number 7 Overall Pick | +800 |
Number 8 Overall Pick | +550 |
The odds indicate that it's anyone's guess as to where Ace Bailey will land, but that he is not likely to slide past the eighth pick. He's not listed in the Number 9 or Number 10 Overall Pick markets.
Bailey's odds are shortest to be drafted at No. 5 or No. 6, which are owned by the Utah Jazz and Washington Wizards, respectively.
Utah could see Bailey as a complement to veterans Lauri Markkanen, Collin Sexton, and Jordan Clarkson, as well as young players Keyonte George, Kyle Filipowski, and Cody Williams. Washington may want to build around him, Alex Sarr, and Bub Carrington going forward.
Bailey canceled his workout with the Sixers, who pick third. He's still the +425 second-favorite to be drafted there, although his odds were +300 on June 19th. Bailey's potentially flexible skillset could make him a fit with Joel Embiid, Paul George, Tyrese Maxey, and Jared McCain, and the team could also trade back.
The Rutgers product is the +360 third-favorite to be drafted at No. 4, which is owned by the Charlotte Hornets. Bailey could be a good fit with LaMelo Ball, Mark Williams, and Miles Bridges.
Top 5 Pick | -225 |
In just one day, Ace Bailey's top-five pick odds have gone from -800 on June 19th to -225 on June 20th.
Reports that he has not worked out for any NBA team with a week left until the draft have certainly impacted his stock. He was set to spend two days with the 76ers this week but ended up canceling the visit altogether, according to ESPN's Shams Charania.
Still, his size and natural scoring ability will be appealing to many teams in the lottery, especially the teams lacking efficiency and a go-to bucket-getter.
The main question is whether teams with high picks will accept the risk of taking a player with whom they have not spent extensive amounts of time.
