Aaron Rodgers will be in a new NFL uniform in the 2025 season.
The New York Jets informed Rodgers in February they were “moving on” from him, a move that comes after the franchise hired a new head coach in Aaron Glenn and general manager in Darren Mougey.
The four-time MVP endured a turbulent two-season tenure in New York, the first of which he missed with a torn Achilles, and a second that ended in the Jets’ 14th-straight season missing the playoffs, the longest active streak in the NFL.
Overall, the Jets went 12-22 in two seasons with Rodgers, and 5-12 in games he started.

The Pittsburgh Steelers and New York Giants are the favorites to land Rodgers this offseason.
Both teams are in need of a new signal-caller and have been linked with the former Packers and Jets QB since his release was announced in February.
Pittsburgh has made the postseason in 12 of 18 seasons under head coach Mike Tomlin, who Rodgers has publicly stated he highly respects. Not to mention the black and gold just traded for star WR D.K. Metcalf and gave him a four-year, $132 million deal, making him one of the highest paid non-QBs in the NFL.
It's also a possibility that Pittsburgh brings back Russell Wilson, who started 11 games for the Steelers in 2024 and had a 6-5 record in those contests.
New York makes sense for Rodgers as he wouldn’t have to move, and although the G-Men don’t have a playoff-ready roster, star second-year WR Malik Nabers is a draw for any QB to come in and throw to.
Plus, the Giants have the third pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. They could use that on a QB while still signing Rodgers, giving the rookie time to develop, or they can select an instant-impact player to try to get the most out of the veteran QB, if he signs.
The Minnesota Vikings have third-shortest odds at +550.
Some fans are rooting for Rodgers to land in Minnesota, as it would mirror Hall of Fame QB Brett Favre’s career path. Both QBs spent the majority of their careers in Green Bay and had short stints with the Jets. Favre spent his age 40 and 41 seasons with the Vikings, where he finished 4th in MVP voting and reached an NFC Championship game.
That being said, the Vikings have second-year QB J.J. McCarthy waiting in the wings, and the 2024 No. 10 overall pick is expected to be Kevin O’Connell’s QB1.
