A Running List of all San Francisco 49ers Injuries

The San Francisco 49ers have suffered losses to key players such as George Kittle, Nick Bosa, Fred Warner, and more over the years, and their bad injury luck has continued throughout OTA's and training camp leading up to the 2026 regular season.

They've had so many injuries, in fact, that they've been the butt of a joke surrounding the close proximity of an electrical substation to their practice facility that has, in theory, led to an increase of soft tissue and ligament injuries.

Below is a list of all the current injuries to Niners' players, along with the type of injury and their status for Week 1:

  • TE George Kittle (Achilles, QUESTIONABLE)

    • Kittle said Sunday that he's "very confident" he won't start on the season on the reserve/PUP list and that he still has a chance to play Week 1 vs. the Rams, per ESPN.

  • RB Christian McCaffrey (tightness, QUESTIONABLE)

    • McCaffrey has been sidelined from practice for more than a week with calf/muscle tightness. Fans have speculated if the star running back is holding-in in hopes of securing a new contract, but NFL's Ian Rapoport says there is "no hold-in conspiracy." McCaffrey is without a timetable for return.

  • RB Jordan James (ribs, QUESTIONABLE)

    • James fractured a rib during a team practice drill and his availability for the start of the season is in doubt.

  • RB Isaac Guerendo (torn pectoral, QUESTIONABLE)

    • Guerendo tore his pec while lifting weights in the early offseason and is currently on the reserve/PUP list, though he could return towards the end of the preseason.

  • WR Mike Evans (left foot/ankle, QUESTIONABLE)

    • Evans exited Tuesday's joint practice against the Chargers and is now questionable to play in Week 1.

  • WR Christian Kirk (calf strain, QUESTIONABLE)

    • Newly-acquired wide receiver Christian Kirk strained his calf during the first day of training camp and has been held out of practice ever since. He's considered day-to-day and could play Week 1, though he could take awhile to ramp up after missing so much practice time.

  • WR Ricky Pearsall (PCL, OUT)

    • Pearsall had a setback with his PCL injury in his right knee during training camp and underwent reconstruction surgery, sidelining him for nine+ months, putting him on the IR.

  • G Dominick Puni (concussion, QUESTIONABLE)

    • Puni likely suffered a concussion during the Niners' preseason matchup against the Tennessee Titans and he has been held out of practice since. If he doesn't play this weekend, expect him to return in time for the final week of preseason.

  • DE Nick Bosa (knee tendinitis, QUESTIONABLE)

    • Bosa is week-to-week with knee tendinitis according to head coach Kyle Shanahan. He recently took a big step towards his return however, as he was seen working out on the side field during training camp on Sunday.

  • DE Mykel Williams (ACL, DOUBTFUL)

    • Williams suffered a torn ACL in a game in Early November last year and is currently on the reserve/PUP list, though he's reportedly been making good strides and could play around the beginning of the season.

  • DE Mikail Kamara (ACL, OUT)

    • Rookie Mikail Kamara tore his ACL during practice in early August and is on the IR.

  • S Malik Mustapha (hamstring, QUESTIONABLE)

    • Mustapha went down with a hamstring injury during a practice in late July and is still out. It's unclear when he could return, but he may miss the entirety of the preseason.
