Bank of Utah Championship Predictions & Best Bets

Following the USA's comeback win over the Internationals at the Presidents Cup, the PGA Tour's FedEx Cup Fall Series resumes with this week's Bank of Utah Championship.

Matt McCarty won the inaugural edition, named the Black Desert Championship, in 2024, before Michael Brennan claimed the spoils last year in the newly named Bank of Utah Championship.

Black Desert Resort hosts this tournament for the third year in a row and this par 71, which measures 7,421 yards, has 11 par-fours, three par-fives and four par-threes to negotiate.

With generous fairways, large greens and two drivable par-four holes, this is not a difficult test and winning scores of -23 and -22 over the first two editions is evidence of this.

American starlet Jackson Koivun, who was the only player to go undefeated for either team at the Presidents Cup, has been installed as the +1300 favorite in the win outright market, with defending champion Michael Brennan next in line at +1700.

Bank of Utah Championship betting picks and predictions

Marco Penge +2700 (Win Only)

Given the majority of the fairways at this course are 70-100 yards wide, finding the short stuff should not be an issue and those who give the ball a good smack off the tee can open their shoulders even more.

Marco Penge is one of the best drivers of the ball and he ranks fourth and 10th in strokes gained on the DP World Tour and PGA Tour this season, so this club should provide him with plenty of opportunities to attack the pin.

The Englishman has produced consistent results over his last three starts, finishing tied sixth at the British Masters, tied 18th at the European Masters and tied 10th at the Biltmore Championship Asheville.

Penge's PGA Tour card for next season is not yet secured, as he sits 105th in FedEx list with a top-100 position required, but a win in Utah would see him catapult up the standings.

Matt Wallace +2200 (Win Only)

Another Englishman worth supporting this week is Matt Wallace, who has been one of the most consistent players in this field over the last couple of months and looks capable of landing his second PGA Tour title.

The world number 54 has not finished outside of the top 15 on his last six starts and his two best results have come on the US circuit, with a tied-fifth effort at the Rocket Classic and a tied seventh at the Wyndham Championship.

Wallace has decided to play in this event instead of the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship as he bids to secure his playing privileges for the 2027 PGA Tour season, and he is on course to achieve this as he sits 76th in the FedEx standings.

The 36-year-old ranks 20th for strokes gained approach and 24th in tee to green on the US circuit and if he can maintain his impressive level of ball striking, then he should have a big chance of lifting the trophy.

Chris Kirk +6000 (Win Only)

It has been more than two years since Chris Kirk won the last of his six PGA Tour titles at The Sentry in January 2024 but he looks to have a solid chance of returning to the winner's circle this week.

Sitting 118th in the FedEx standings, the American is in need of some good results over the Fall Series and he started off the postseason in strong fashion with a top 10 at the Biltmore Championship.

That was the 41-year-old's second top 10 in his last three starts, having ended up tied eighth at the Rocket Classic, and there have been enough positives to suggest he can contend in Utah.

Kirk's long game has been reliable this season, evidenced by his ranking of 17th in strokes gained approach and 28th in tee to green, but the putter has been the limiting club in his bag.

The world number 106 has shown improvement on the greens of late, which has helped deliver those two top 10s, and he looks worth siding with.
