2025 NHL Playoffs: Edmonton Oilers vs. Los Angeles Kings first-round series odds

The first round of the 2025 NHL Playoffs features a matchup between two longtime Pacific Division rivals, the Edmonton Oilers and Los Angeles Kings.

LA took the early advantage by winning a high-scoring Game 1 by a 6-5 score.

The Kings got out to a 2-0 lead by the end of the first period of the series, and they made it 4-1 by the end of the second.

This is the fourth consecutive postseason in which the Kings and Oilers face off. The Oilers have won each of the last six series against the Kings, and the last three took place in the first round.

The rivalry hinges on the 1988 Wayne Gretzky trade that sent The Great One from Edmonton to LA. The teams met in the three ensuing postseasons after the trade, and the Kings won the first post-trade series before Edmonton won the next two.

The Kings won the 2025 regular-season series 3-1, with one of those wins coming in overtime. Plus, LA shut out Edmonton in their last two matchups of the season, which both took place in April.
