The Dallas Stars and Colorado Avalanche, Central Division rivals, are tied 2-2 through four games in the first round of the 2025 NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs.
The series has seen Stars right winger Mikko Rantanen face his former team, but he has only registered one point despite his team having scored seven goals.
Colorado made a statement with a 5-1 win in Game 1, but they only had one more shot on goal than Dallas and didn't run away with the lead until the last five minutes of the third period, during which they scored twice.
Dallas bounced back in Game 2, building a 2-0 lead, forcing overtime with a game-tying goal from Evgenii Dadonov midway through the third period, and scoring the winner just over two minutes into OT.
Game 3 also went into overtime, where Tyler Seguin scored the winner, which was assisted by Rantanen. Game 4 was another Avs blowout: they won 4-0 with a goal from captain Gabriel Landeskog, who made an emotional return to the ice after nearly two full years out injured.
