2025 MLB Season: AL West Odds

The American League West Division features some big-name talents, as well as two of the last three World Series-winning teams.

Three of the five teams enter the season neck-and-neck in the odds to win the division.

Here, ahead of the 2025 MLB regular season, let's take a look at the odds to win the AL West.

2025 MLB AL West Odds — To Win Division

HOU Astros

+165

SEA Mariners

+200

TEX Rangers

+200

LA Angels

+2000

The Athletics

+2200

The Houston Astros (+165) are narrow favorites to win the AL West over the Seattle Mariners (+200) and the Texas Rangers (+200).

Houston, the winners of the 2022 World Series, lost Gold Glove-winning third baseman Alex Bregman in free agency and traded away star outfielder Kyle Tucker as he enters a contract year. But newly signed first baseman Christian Walker is a big upgrade, and third baseman Isaac Paredes — acquired in the Tucker trade — has posted a WAR of at least 2.5 in each of the last three seasons and likely has his best years still ahead of him.

The Astros also have stellar pitching, with their rotation headlined by Framber Valdez and their bullpen by closer Josh Hader.

The Mariners and Rangers are tied for second in the betting.

Seattle's pitching staff has been elite for years, and they benefit from pitcher-friendly T-Mobile Park. Catcher Cal Raleigh had a breakout year in 2024 and signed a contract extension just before the season started, but the team and its fans will want to see more from Julio Rodriguez, whose WAR rating has decreased each year since his Rookie of the Year-winning 2022 season.

The Rangers fell off in 2024 after winning the 2023 World Series, but they still have much of the same core group. Two-time Cy Young Award winner Jacob deGrom is set to be healthy, and fellow starting pitchers Kumar Rocker and Jack Leiter are projected to make an impact at the Major League level in 2025.

The Los Angeles Angels (+2000) and the Athletics (+2200) are the long shots to win the division.

LA's hopes of making any sort of impact on a national scale start and end with Mike Trout, who has played 100 games in a season just once in the five years. Still, the team has some exciting young talent in Zach Neto, Logan O'Hoppe and Nolan Schanuel, with Christian Moore also likely to debut sometime this season.

While the Athletics are stuck in the Sacramento wilderness for the next few seasons as they wait to move to Las Vegas, they still have some talent and could surprise people. Power hitter Brent Rooker had a breakout season in 2024, Mason Miller became one of the league's best closers, and this offseason, they signed some potential impact players including Luis Severino and Giovanny Urshela.
