2025 MLB Season: AL East Odds

Entering the 2025 Major League Baseball regular season, the American League East contains three competitive teams that have each built their rosters in distinct ways.

The New York Yankees recently lost outfielder Juan Soto in free agency, causing the team to spread around the money it would have paid him.

Much of the Baltimore Orioles' roster has come through the team's farm system, and their biggest offseason acquisitions were veteran starters Charlie Morton and Zach Eflin. They'll be tasked with replacing the production of former ace Corbin Burnes, who left in free agency.

The Boston Red Sox have built their team using parts of both the Yankees' and Orioles' approaches. Boston has three highly-touted prospects coming up this season, but they traded other young players for star pitcher Garrett Crochet and also paid big money for infielder Alex Bregman.

2025 AL East Odds — To Win Division

NY Yankees

BAL Orioles

+260

BOS Red Sox

+300

TB Rays

+800

TOR Blue Jays

+1100

The New York Yankees enter the 2025 season as the favorites (+140) to win the American League East.

After losing Soto, the Yankees acquired 2022 NL MVP first baseman Paul Goldschmidt, 2019 NL MVP outfielder Cody Bellinger, two-time All-Star starting pitcher Max Fried, and two-time Reliever of the Year Devin Williams. The team still has 2024 MVP Aaron Judge, and younger players like Jasson Dominguez and Austin Wells have shown promise.

The Baltimore Orioles are second in the betting to win the AL East (+260), although their main goal this season will be avoiding a first-round playoff exit, which they've suffered in each of the last two years.

Veteran starters Charlie Morton and Zach Eflin were the team's marquee signings, but the O's can expect progress from young players including Jackson Holliday, Jordan Westburg and Heston Kjerstad. They'll also want more consistency from Gunnar Henderson, whose power dropped off after the All-Star break, and Adley Rutschman, who posted the lowest WAR rating of his MLB career last season.

The Boston Red Sox are third in the market (+300), just behind the O's, after a busy offseason. Manager Alex Cora still has to figure out who will start at third base between incumbent Rafael Devers and Gold Glove-winning free agent signing Alex Bregman, but that's not a bad problem to have.

Boston traded for talented starting pitcher Garrett Crochet and signed pitchers Walker Buehler and Aroldis Chapman as free agents. Plus, the prospect trio of Roman Anthony, Marcelo Meyer and Kristian Campbell could all debut this season, and centerfielder Jarren Duran is coming off a breakout 2024 campaign.

Further back in the odds, but still within reach of the top three teams in the division, are the Tampa Bay Rays (+800) and Toronto Blue Jays (+1100).

The Rays seem to have an endless conveyor belt of top-tier prospects coming through their ranks, and this season is no exception with Carson Williams and Chandler Simpson projected to be the next ones up.

The Blue Jays hit a stumbling block earlier this offseason when they couldn't agree to a contract extension for star first baseman Vladimir Guerrero Jr., but that may only motivate him in his contract year.
