2024/25 NBA odds: Bronny James +20000 to win Rookie of the Year

Bronny James, who was selected by the Los Angeles Lakers with the 55th-overall pick in the 2024 NBA Draft, has +20000 odds to win Rookie of the Year.

His +20000 odds are the longest of any player listed in the 2024/25 NBA Rookie of the Year market.

James came off the bench in 19 of his 25 games played in his one season at USC. He missed the start of the campaign as he recovered from cardiac arrest suffered in the summer of 2023.

In 19.3 minutes per game, James averaged 4.8 points, 2.8 rebounds, 2.1 assists and 0.8 steals per game while shooting 36.6 percent from the field.

James had just three games where he reached double-digit points. He scored 15 against Oregon State in his fifth collegiate game, 10 against California in his sixth game of the season, and 11 against Arizona in his 10th game.

Rather than being a dominant scorer like his father and Lakers teammate, LeBron James, Bronny projects more as a pass- and defense-first point guard.

The younger James stands at 6-foot-2, and he had five games with two steals and four games with at least five assists.

News broke on Tuesday that James is signing a multi-year contract and will begin the season on the Lakers roster rather than beginning his profession career in the G-League.

He may figure into the end of the Lakers rotation under rookie head coach JJ Redick, but LA still has plenty of time to sign a more experienced backup point guard if Redick and his coaching staff aren't ready to trust the younger James with such a substantial role.
