The Big East may have the most impressive history of any College Basketball conference, and it is one of the few conferences to be virtually unaffected by conference realignment.
As probably the most famous non-football conference in the NCAA, Men's Basketball takes center stage year after year thanks to the presence of storied programs including Georgetown, Marquette, Providence, Villanova, and reigning back-to-back national champion Connecticut.
Will anyone be able to unseat the Connecticut Huskies, who have won the last two national titles and last year's Big Ten regular season championship?
Connecticut | +100 |
Creighton | +350 |
St. John's | +500 |
Marquette | +600 |
Villanova | +1200 |
Xavier | +1200 |
Providence | +2000 |
Seton Hall | +2000 |
Butler | +4000 |
Georgetown | +10000 |
DePaul | +15000 |
The Connecticut Huskies saw four players in their starting five move on after winning the national championship last season, but they're right back among the outright favorites with sharp-shooting wing Alex Karaban returning to play alongside a strong recruiting and transfer class headlined by Aidan Mahaney, Tarris Reed and Liam McNeeley.
Entering the 2024/25 campaign, UConn is +100 to win the Big Ten regular season championship. Head coach Dan Hurley will require some of his reserves from last year to step into starting roles, but the coach has thrived despite roster turnover in years past.
The Creighton Bluejays, led by 7-foot-1 center Ryan Kalkbrenner, are +350 second-favorites to win the Big Ten. Kalkbrenner and guard Pop Isaacs - who transferred from Texas Tech after averaging 15.8 points last season - should form a strong pick-and-roll duo.
The St. John's Red Storm, coached by Rick Pitino, are third in the odds at +500 after a big offseason in the transfer portal. They brought in the consensus top transfer player Kadary Richmond, who averaged 15.7 points, 7.0 rebounds and 5.1 assists for Seton Hall last year, and he'll join up with fellow transfers Deivon Smith and Aaron Scott.
Following close behind in fourth in the market at +600 are the Marquette Golden Eagles. They lost last year's stars, Tyler Kolek and Oso Ighodaro, to the NBA, but head coach Shaka Smart brings back Kam Jones, Stevie Mitchell, Ben Gold and David Joplin from last year's team.
The Villanova Wildcats and Xavier Musketeers are tied for fifth in the odds at +1200.
Villanova added shooting guard Wooga Poplar from Miami through the transfer portal to pair with returning leading scorer Eric Dixon, and coach Kyle Neptune got two four-star recruits and a three-star recruit ahead of this season.
Xavier, under Sean Miller, lost second-leading scorer Desmond Claude in the transfer portal but have Trey Green, Dailyn Swain and Dayvion McKnight returning to play alongside transfer additions John Hugley IV, Ryan Conwell, Lassina Traore and Marcus Foster.
With the longest odds in the Big East market, between 20/1 and 150/1, are the Providence Friars, Seton Hall Pirates, Butler Bulldogs, Georgetown Hoyas and DePaul Blue Demons.
