2024 Premier Lacrosse League Odds: Three teams tied as favorites

The sixth Premier Lacrosse League season begins on June 1, and three teams are level with the shortest odds to win the championship this season.

Four different teams have won the championship since the PLL's first season in 2019. The reigning champion Utah Archers are among the favorites heading into the 2024 campaign.

2024 Premier Lacrosse League Odds - To Win Outright

Utah Archers

Boston Cannons

Philadelphia Waterdogs

Maryland Whipsnakes

New York Atlas

California Redwoods

Denver Outlaws

Carolina Chaos

Utah Archers +500

The Utah Archers won last season's Premier Lacrosse League Championship with a 15-14 win over the Philadelphia Waterdogs in the final. Utah was also the league's best regular season team.

Midfielder and team captain Tom Schreiber won the league's MVP, Midfielder of the Year, and Leadership awards in 2023.

He's joined on the roster by the league's second- and third-leading goalscorers from last year, attackers Mac O'Keefe and Connor Fields, as well as reigning Short Stick Defensive Midfielder of the Year Latrell Harris.

Boston Cannons +500

The Boston Cannons have a loaded attack, featuring reigning PLL goalscoring leader Marcus Holman, reigning second-leading points scorer Asher Nolting, and former Notre Dame standouts Matt and Pat Kavanagh.

The Cannons also allowed the joint-fourth-fewest goals per game in the league last year. They feature two of the league's three top players in caused turnovers from last year - Ethan Rall and Bubba Fairman - and they have a solid goalie in Colin Kirst.

Philadelphia Waterdogs +500

Another joint-favorite to win the title this year, the Philadelphia Waterdogs finished as runners up last season, but they brought in a new head coach and general manager in former Princeton University and University of Denver coach Bill Tierney.

Philly scored the third-most points and allowed the third-fewest last year. The offense is set to be led by Kieran McArdle, Ethan Walker and Michael Sowers with Jack Hannah and Connor Kelly contributing from midfield, and they added attacker Matt Brandau in the draft.

Defensively, Ben Randall and Eli Gobrecht lead the way, and faceoff man Sach Currier posted the fifth-highest faceoff percentage in the league in 2023.

Maryland Whipsnakes +550

The Maryland Whipsnakes won the first two PLL championships in 2019 and 2020, but they haven't been back to the championship game since 2021.

Maryland has tons of experience in attack, with Will Manny and Matt Rambo leading the way with Mike Chanenchuk being an offensive threat from midfield. Manny had the 11th-most points in the league last year (32) while Chanenchuk was tied for 15th with 27 points.

The Whipsnakes had scored the fourth-most points last year (128) and had the most two-point goals (15), but they had the second-worst defense with 12.8 points allowed per game. They bolstered the defense by drafting Ajax Zappitello.

New York Atlas +600

The New York Atlas have a chance in any game as a result of having Trevor Baptiste as their faceoff man and Myles Jones storming through midfield.

Baptise, the 2022 league MVP and four-time Faceoff Athlete of the Year winner, had a league-leading 77.4 percent faceoff percentage last year, leading the second-placed player by 9.3 percentage points.

Jones had a down year, scoring just ten points split between six one-point goals and four assists, although he was traded midseason from the California Redwoods to the Atlas. If he enters the season fully settled, expect him to get back to his 2022 levels where he posted 22 points in 10 games.

New York traded its top scorer from 2023, Chris Gray, to the Redwoods, but they drafted attacker Connor Shellenberger and return 36-point scorer Jeff Teat and 27-point scorer Eric Law. Plus, the team has three new goalies after its two from last year posted save percentages under 50 percent.
