The San Francisco 49ers lost in the NFL Championship last season, but they kept their core together and will aim to make a deep playoff run this time around. That's why they're -550 to make the playoffs.
The Patrick Mahomes-led Kansas City Chiefs have the second-shortest odds to make the playoffs at -450. Mahomes Magic led them to win the NFL Championship last season, and adding the speedy WR Xavier Worthy in the draft will make Mahomes even more dangerous.
Despite losing a bunch of core players in free agency, the Baltimore Ravens have the third-shortest odds for a playoff berth at -350. QB Lamar Jackson is the reigning MVP, they signed powerhouse RB Derrick Henry, and Mark Andrews and Isaiah Likely form a dangerous TE duo.
The Carolina Panthers have the longest odds to make the playoffs at +900, and they are -1800 to miss the playoffs which are the shortest odds in the NFL. They should be better than their 2-15 record in 2023 after signing some offensive line help and drafting a receiver to aid QB Bryce Young, but this team is very much a work in progress.
The New England Patriots follow at +850 to make the playoffs and -1400 to miss out. Drake Maye, the QB they drafted with the third pick in the 2024 draft, is viewed as a long-term project, and even if he starts in Week 1, they don't have much in the way of quality surrounding him.
At +400, the Denver Broncos have the third-longest odds to make the playoffs, and they're -800 to miss the postseason. They will likely be quarterbacked by Bo Nix, the QB they picked 12th-overall in the recent draft. He was viewed as a reach at that pick, and the closest thing he'll have to a go-to offensive threat is Courtland Sutton at WR.
