The LA Galaxy and New York Red Bulls are set to face off in the 2024 MLS Cup Final.
Inter Miami - led by Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez, Jordi Alba and Sergio Busquets - was knocked out in the first round by Atlanta United.
Here, we'll take a look at the odds to win the 2024 MLS Cup and analyze each team's chances.
LA Galaxy | -334 |
New York Red Bulls | +240 |
The LA Galaxy are favored to beat the New York Red Bulls in the 2024 MLS Cup Final, despite the fact that midfield general Riqui Puig suffered a torn ACL in the Galaxy's 1-0 Western Conference Final win over the Seattle Sounders.
In 2024, Puig contributed 13 goals and nine assists from central midfield, and he averaged a MLS-best 122.3 touches of the ball per match. He sat at the center of everything for LA this season.
In the other semifinal, the Red Bulls took down Orlando City SC 1-0 to win the Eastern Conference.
In the regular season, the Red Bulls finished seventh out of 15 teams in the East. LA finished second in the West, tied with crosstown rivals Los Angeles FC on 64 points.
NYRB was led by four talented attackers in Lewis Morgan, Dante Vanzeir, Emil Forsberg and Elias Manoel. In the regular season, Morgan scored 13 goals with five assists, Vanzeir had four goals and nine assists, Forsberg had nine goals and four assists, and Manoel had eight goals and one assist.
LA, aside from Puig, has a dynamic front line with Gabriel Pec and Joseph Paintsil on the wings and Dejan Joveljic through the middle. They led the third-most prolific attack in the 2024 MLS regular season: Pec had 16 goals and 12 assists, Paintsil had 10 goals and seven assists, and Joveljic had 15 goals and five assists.
