The New York Yankees and Los Angeles Dodgers are facing off in the 2024 MLB World Series, but who will win the series MVP Award?
No one playing in the 2024 World Series has won the award before, although quite a few players on the Dodgers 2020 World Series-winning team are still on the roster.
Let's take a look at the odds to win the 2024 World Series MVP Award.
Freddie Freeman (LA Dodgers) | -1000 |
Anthony Volpe (NY Yankees) | +1600 |
Juan Soto (NY Yankees) | +2500 |
Giancarlo Stanton (NY Yankees) | +2800 |
Aaron Judge (NY Yankees) | +6000 |
Austin Wells (NY Yankees) | +8000 |
Jazz Chisholm (NY Yankees) | +8000 |
Mookie Betts (LA Dodgers) | +9000 |
The Los Angeles Dodgers are up 3-1 on the New York Yankees in the 2024 MLB World Series, and LA is one win away from winning the eighth World Series in franchise history.
Dodgers first baseman Freddie Freeman, who hit a walk-off Grand Slam in Game 1, a solo home run in Game 2, a two-run homer in Game 3, and a two-run homer in Game 4, is the heavy favorite to win World Series MVP at -1000.
Freeman has battled through an ankle injury throughout the postseason, and he had struggled through the NLDS and NLCS as a result. While he has 11 hits, four home runs, 11 RBI and a .822 OPS for the entire postseason, he has been clutch with all four homers coming in the World Series.
The Yankees are faced with elimination at a 1-3 deficit, but their Game 4 win was driven by Anthony Volpe, who is the +1600 second-favorite for series MVP. The shortstop hit a grand slam in the third inning to give New York a 5-2 lead from which they never looked back, and he scored another run later in the game to make it 7-4.
Third in the World Series MVP market is Juan Soto at +2500. He has done everything this series except for driving in runners, as he has a home run a double, four walks to just one strikeout, and has scored four runs.
Giancarlo Stanton follows Soto at +2800. The Yankees DH won ALCS MVP with four home runs in five games, and while he hasn't yet homered in the World Series, he has four hits, three RBI, one home run, and he can change a game with a single swing.
Yankees centerfielder Aaron Judge, the presumptive regular season AL MVP winner, has seen his bat go cold in the playoffs and especially in the World Series. He is batting .133/.278/.133 in the World Series, but because he - like Stanton - can change a game with one swing, he's fifth in the series MVP odds at +6000.
Third baseman Jazz Chisholm and catcher Austin Wells - both of the Yankees - are tied for sixth in the odds at +8000. Wells hit a solo homer in Game 4 to give his team a two-run cushion and he caught a player stealing a base in Game 2, while Chisholm has stolen four bases and scored two runs.
Further back in the odds, between 90/1 and 100/1, are Dodgers rightfielder Mookie Betts, Yankees starting pitcher Gerrit Cole, Dodgers starting pitcher Jack Flaherty, Dodgers utility player and NLCS MVP Tommy Edman, Dodgers catcher Will Smith, and Dodgers starting pitcher Yoshinobu Yamamoto.
