The Kansas City Royals advanced from the Wild Card round to face the New York Yankees in the ALDS.
The Royals swept the Baltimore Orioles in two games to set up this matchup.
In Game 1 of the Royals-Orioles tilt, Kansas City starting pitcher Cole Ragans threw a six-inning gem with eight strikeouts, zero walks, four hits, and zero runs surrendered as the Royals won 1-0 with Bobby Witt Jr. driving in the winning run. Game 2 ended in a 2-1 win for KC, and Witt drove in the winning run once more.
The Yankees got the week off thanks to the bye. They finished with the third-best record in baseball and relied on the MVP-level offensive production of Aaron Judge and Juan Soto as well as a deep starting rotation to win the AL East.
Both the Royals and Yankees have offensive superstars and deep rotations. New York went 5-2 against Kansas City in the regular season, but four of the Yankees' wins came in June - before Witt caught fire in the second half of the season - while the Royals won twice in a three-game series in early September.
Let's take a look at the odds for this series that pits two teams with superstar hitters and strong pitching against each other.
