Australian Football: Zadkovich demanding Glory response

Perth Glory interim boss Ruben Zadkovich is demanding a change in attitude as he prepares for his first game against Wellington Phoenix on Saturday.

Glory are priced at 1/1 to finish bottom of the A-League ladder this season and there is plenty of work to be done to get them climbing the table.

Garcia sacked

Richard Garcia lost his job following the 4-1 home defeat against Brisbane Roar last Saturday. They had failed to win in seven games and had lost three from four since returning to Perth.

With owner Tony Sage ruling out any high-profile appointments due to the finances, Zadkovich now has a big chance to stake a claim for the job.

Glory need results and quickly but Zadkovich admits it will take time to get his football philosophy over to the players.

But one thing he will demand is the players giving their all and says every one of them are fighting for their own futures.

Shift in mentality

"I want to see a shift in belief in the playing group and I want to see a performance that reflects the position that we're in," he  told reporters ahead of the Nix game.

"The fans and the members are hurting. The club's hurting, and whilst we can't implement all the key principles and the changes from a philosophy point of view or playing style point of view straight away, what we can do is show a real lift in our mentality and in our effort.”
