League Two weekend preview: Leyton Orient go in search of five-point lead

Following a string of recent postponements a healthy League Two programme is expected this weekend, even if Stevenage, Walsall and Grimsby Town are busy in FA Cup fourth-round action.

And with nine games scheduled for Saturday at 15:00 in the fourth tier, there's plenty of action in store at both ends of the table, including leaders Leyton Orient's trip to Tranmere Rovers.

Leyton Orient go to 15th-placed Tranmere Rovers hoping to bounce back from a 3-0 defeat last time out against their nearest challengers in the table, Stevenage.

That win for Steve Evans' side last week means there is now just a two-point gap at the top and, with Stevenage in FA Cup fourth-round action this weekend, the O's know their trip to Merseyside represents a chance for them to move five points clear, although they will have then played two games more.

Orient are without a win since a 1-0 success over Doncaster Rovers in early January and that is their only league victory in six, so they need to rediscover their form quickly if they are to stay in control of the title race.

Rovers, meanwhile, have drawn their last two games with Sutton United and Walsall, but they still have play-off aspirations in the second half of the campaign themselves as they are only six points shy of Bradford City in seventh.

This could well be tight with a draw, on offer at 11/5 in Full Time Result, appealing.

With Stevenage not playing in the league, third-placed Northampton Town will also want to stay in the final automatic promotion spot by winning at Barrow, who are eighth, one point adrift of the top seven. An away win in this one is 17/10 in Full Time Result.

There's also a big game at the Broadfield Stadium as relegation-threatened Crawley Town entertain Salford City, who are fifth.

Salford firmly in promotion hunt

Salford are only four points behind the Cobblers so will want to also stay in the automatic promotion mix and they should be good enough to get the better of Town, who are without a win in their last four League Two games, losing three.

An away win is available at a tempting 11/8 in Full Time Result.

Harrogate Town in 19th entertain 14th-placed Sutton, while Hartlepool United, who are just a place and two points clear of the dropzone, host Colchester United, who are five points better off than Saturday's opponents in 18th.

Two teams still vying to be in play-off contention come May face off at Field Mill when Mansfield Town, who are ninth, entertain 12th-placed Doncaster, while the same could be said for Wimbledon and Stockport County, who are 10th and 13th respectively, ahead of their meeting at Plough Lane.

Struggling Dale face tough Cumbrians test

OddsRochdale 21/10, Draw 23/10, Carlisle 13/10

Bottom-of-the-table Rochdale are at home to fourth-placed Carlisle United, with the two sides in need of the points for very different reasons.

Dale are two points adrift of safety at the wrong end of the table and they have played more games than anyone other than Hartlepool, therefore anything against the Cumbrians would be welcome.

However, the visitors to Spotland this weekend are in fine form, winning four of their last five, and this looks ripe for an away win - on offer at decent value at 13/10 in Full Time Result.

Finally, Swindon Town, who are up to sixth following a fine 5-0 home win over Grimsby last time out, welcome Gillingham, who are second-bottom.

A home win in Full Time Result seems the most likely outcome at the County Ground and is available at 4/5.
