New Zealand Warriors fullback Reece Walsh has shot down reports he is looking to leave the club and says he will be on board for the 2023 campaign.
The Warriors are priced at 12/5 to finish in the top eight of the NRL this season but reports have been rife suggesting it could be his last with the club.
The Warriors have been based in Walsh’s home state of Queensland during recent times but will be back home in Auckland, New Zealand for the 2023 season.
That has kicked off reports Walsh could look to leave with the NRL’s newest addition the Dolphins keen to keep him in Queensland. As tempting as that might be, the gun fullback says he is staying with the Warriors.

“I’m going to New Zealand next year. My manager and I haven’t even discussed other options because we’ve always known that is the case,” Walsh told Fox Sports.
“When I first signed with the Warriors it was really before the pandemic hit, so I thought I was going to New Zealand straight away. It’s only because of that we stayed in Australia for so long.”
Walsh is under contract for the 2023 season but as of 1st November this year he will be able to accept a deal for the start of 2024.
But for now he is just focused on the Warriors and says he is up for challenge of moving to Auckland.
“Going to NZ is always going to be a challenge and I’m looking at it like that,” he added. “It’s a growth opportunity for sure.”
