NRL: Wallace rallies Titans troops

Gold Coast forward Jarrod Wallace says it is time for the Titans to step up and raise their game following a disappointing start to the 2022 NRL campaign.

The Titans started the season with hopes of making the top eight but their chances of playing finals will be slim unless there is a big improvement moving forward.

Poor run of form

The Titans have been on a five-game losing streak that has seen them slump to 14th spot on the ladder ahead of the Magic Round.

They now face a crucial run of fixtures, all of them in Queensland, and Wallace says there is no better time for them to get their act together and start climbing the ladder.

"There's no better time for us to tell you the truth. We're in Queensland now for the next five rounds," Wallace said. "We've got (a game in) Brisbane this week, then we're back home (v Sharks), then back to Brissie (v Broncos) and then I think we've got two back home (v Cowboys then Rabbitohs).

"This is our time. If we want to be playing football in the finals, late September, early October, it needs to change now. Obviously our early games have been disappointing but we know we can be better."

Spine back together

Meanwhile Wallace believes the Titans will benefit from having Jayden Campbell back in the No.1 jersey with AJ Brimson and Toby Sexton in the halves.

"Having a full pre-season that was so important and then it kind of getting broken up after JC got injured, that's always hard, but I think we'll find that our spine will be completely different having all three back together," he added.
