This Week's Sport: Hectic week sees action all the way

Another packed week of sport is planned between Monday 9th and Sunday 15th January, with a pair of Premier League derbies headlining the weekend.

There are also highlights from horse racing, snooker, golf and rugby union and, as ever, bet365 has odds and streaming options galore to help punters enjoy the action.

OddsOxford 10/1, Draw 8/1, Arsenal 1/6

Arsenal are leading the race to win their first Premier League title since the Invincibles of 2003/04 but have a slight distraction on Monday when they head to Oxford in the third round of the FA Cup.

The U's, 15th in League One, have a history of FA Cup upsets, most recently beating Newcastle 3-0 in the fourth round of the 2016/17 competition.

Arsenal went on to win the tournament that season and their most recent success in 2019/20 took them to a record 14 FA Cup triumphs.

That was Mikel Arteta's sole major trophy to date as the Gunners' head coach and, while he has other priorities, another FA Cup at 7/1 in the To Win Outright market would undoubtedly be an achievement.

Newcastle and Leicester clash at St James' Park in one of two EFL Cup quarter-finals on Tuesday.

The pair most recently met on Boxing Day when the Magpies won 3-0 at the King Power Stadium, a result that has helped them solidify third in the Premier League table.

Leicester have other issues, currently sitting 13th in the table after three straight defeats but boosted morale with Saturday's 1-0 FA Cup win at League Two Gillingham. It was a different story for Newcastle, who lost 2-1 at League One Sheffield Wednesday.

Tuesday's other EFL Cup quarter-final sees Manchester United host League One Charlton, with the Addicks 16/1 to cause an upset in the Match Result market.

A summer health kick elevated Mark Allen's game to new heights in the second half of 2022, winning both the Northern Ireland Open and UK Championship, while also making the final of the British Open and reaching the last four of the English Open.

The 36-year-old will be looking to kick on into 2023 with a strong showing at The Masters 2023 where he meets Barry Hawkins in the opening round on Tuesday at 13:00.

Three-time winner Mark Williams is also in action, with the Welshman 4/7 to beat David Gilbert at 19:00.

Both of Nathan Jones' wins since taking over at Southampton have come in cup competitions, beating Lincoln 2-1 in the EFL Cup and then Crystal Palace 2-1 in the FA Cup on Saturday.

The Welshman will hope another outing in the former can provide more joy but his side face a mountain of a task when Manchester City visit St Mary's in the last eight.

Last season's fourth-round penalty shootout defeat to West Ham was City's first defeat in a tie in the competition since the 2016/17 season and they are 4/5 To Win Outright for the ninth time.

The other EFL Cup match on Wednesday is another all-Premier League affair at 19:45 as Nottingham Forest host Wolves.

With the pair sat 15th and 19th respectively in the Premier League, Steve Cooper and Julen Lopetegui could be forgiven for having other priorities and another tight match could be on the agenda, with Wolves having won the pair's most recent meeting in October 1-0.

Wednesday's other opening round match is set to start at 19:00 when 2020 hero Stuart Bingham takes on 2018 beaten finalist Kyren Wilson.

There is a London derby to look forward to on Thursday with Fulham hosting neighbours Chelsea.

The Cottagers have enjoyed a stellar return to the top-flight, currently sitting seventh on the back of last Tuesday's 1-0 win at Leicester.

That is three points above Chelsea who have won just one of their last eight Premier League games and need to find their form quickly if they are to finish in the top four.

The first full field event of 2023 starts on Thursday as the PGA stays in Hawaii for the second week for the Sony Open.

With seven of the top 10 in the world taking part in the Sentry Tournament of Champions, an event reserved for the previous year's winners and Tour Championship qualifiers, the competition in Honolulu often attracts a stellar field.

Then reigning Masters champion Hideki Matsuyama won last year's tournament, while 2017 winner and reigning PGA champion Justin Thomas is a regular at Waialae Country Club.

Unai Emery has made an immediate impact at Aston Villa, with the tactical changes he has implemented helping his side to just one defeat in five in the Premier League.

That run has lifted the Villans to 11th, three places above Friday's visitors Leeds who have drawn their last two in the league and remain totally unpredictable under Jesse Marsch.

Last season's renewal of this match finished 3-3 and 50/1 is available for a repeat of that Correct Score.

There is also a potential barnstormer in Serie A as Napoli host Juventus, with the resurgent Bianconeri on a run of seven wins without conceding. All the action is available on our bet365's European Soccer Live Streaming Highlights.

Steve Borthwick's departure to England has undoubtedly affected Leicester Tigers, most recently losing 45-26 at Newcastle in the Premiership.

The Champions Cup offers the two-time winners a chance to switch their focus and they are two from two in Europe, including beating Friday's opponents Clermont 23-16 at Welford Road before Christmas.

Three-time runners-up Clermont have been a mixed bag to date this season, losing eight times in the Top 14 but have talent throughout, most notably France winger Damian Penaud.

OddsManchester United 7/2, Draw 11/4, Manchester City 3/4

The Manchester Derby is a fixture almost all football fans look forward to and, after playing out a 6-3 thriller at the Etihad in October, United and City do battle again on Saturday.

Both Phil Foden and Erling Haaland scored hat-tricks in that game. The latter is now on 21 Premier League goals for the season and is on course to break all kinds of scoring records.

The Norwegian is 15/4 to score 2 or More in the Multi Scorers market but will have a tougher time than in October against a much-improved United rearguard.

That match at 12:30 is one of six in the Premier League, with Wolves taking on fellow strugglers West Ham and Brighton hosting Liverpool, where a repeat of the pair's October 3-3 draw in Roberto De Zerbi's first game in charge is available at 40/1 as a Correct Score.

Relegation candidates Southampton and Everton also meet at 15:00, as do East Midlands rivals Nottingham Forest and Leicester.

Then at 17:30, Brentford host Bournemouth with both sides aiming to respond after disappointing weekends in the FA Cup.

The 172nd Basque Derby is arguably the highlight of Saturday's European fixtures as Athletic Bilbao head east up the AP-8 to take on Real Sociedad.

There is even more to play for than usual, with both pushing for the Champions League spots and, having failed to win any of the pair's last three La Liga meetings, Sociedad will be aiming to make home advantage count.

Elsewhere in bet365's European Soccer Live Streaming Highlights on Saturday, both Milanese clubs are in action in Serie A, with AC Milan away to Lecce at 17:00 and Inter Milan hosting Verona at 19:45.

OddsTottenham 9/4, Draw 5/2, Arsenal 21/20

The second North London Derby of the season is the feature game of three matches in the Premier League on Sunday, kicking off at 16:30.

Arsenal won the pair's meeting earlier in the season 3-1 and lead the standings by five points heading into the weekend.

Tottenham enjoyed a morale-boosting 4-0 win at Crystal Palace last time out in the league and will be looking for inspiration from their 3-0 victory the last time the pair met in N17.

Harry Kane, 7/5 Anytime Goalscorer, scored twice in that match and has a fine record against the Gunners, netting 14 times in his career against his club's great rivals.

Earlier in the day at 14:00, Newcastle will look to push their top-four hopes against an impressive Fulham side, while there is another all-capital clash, as Palace head west to take on Chelsea.
