The Leon and Troy Corstens-trained The Astrologist is set to make his Moonee Valley debut when he runs in the William Reid Stakes on Friday.
Having finished runner-up behind Roch 'N' Horse in the Group 1 Newmarket Handicap on his most recent start, the five-year-old is a 12/1 chance for the 1200-metre Group 1 feature on Friday. You can follow the action via our Sports Live Streaming platform.
The son of Zoustar got a feel of the track yesterday morning when having a gallop under jockey Fred Kersley and Troy Corstens feels he handled it well.
"Funnily enough it's the first time The Astrologist has ever been to Moonee Valley which is very unusual for a horse that's has as many starts as him," co-trainer Troy Corstens told Racing.com.
"But his work was really good. He sort of just wobbled a little bit coming around the top corner but coming around the home bend he really hit his straps good."
Corstens also admitted that he will be hoping for a low draw, feeling it could be critical to his sprinter's chances of success.
"Ideally we need to draw hopefully two to five or six or something like that," Corstens continued.
"You don't think Marabi is going to change her plan so if we could be sitting outside her if she leads that would be ideal."
