NRL: Storm duo urge Munster to stay

Melbourne Storm duo Jahrome Hughes and Harry Grant are both hoping that star playmaker Cameron Munster will commit his long-term future to the club.

The Storm are priced at 10/3 to win the 2022 NRL grand final and Munster is one of the key men as they push for silverware.

Dolphins interest

Munster is under contract until the end of the 2023 season but there is a question mark over his future as the Dolphins, who will enter the NRL next season, are keen to get him on board.

The Queensland State of Origin star will be free to talk to them from 1st November this year and sort a deal from the start of 2024. But Hughes hopes that does not happen.

There is talk that Munster will be offered reduced terms after the Storm spent big when signing Hughes, Grant and Ryan Papenhuyzen to new deals.

Only time will tell if that is the case but Hughes is in no doubt he wants him to stay.

"I've been getting stuck into him (Munster) actually, but he's given me nothing at the moment," Hughes said on Wednesday.

"Hopefully he can stay, that was one of the key components of me staying was hopefully him staying as well. But he's got to do what's best for him with his young family."

Grant reveals Munster hopes

Meanwhile Grant also hopes Munster stays but says all the talk over his future is not proving to be an issue among the players.

"He (Munster) has still got this year and next year so we don't want to look too far ahead," Grant added. "Everyone in the squad's just focused on this season. He knows all the boys love him and want him to stay here.”
