Championship: Steve Freeth's QPR v Reading Bet Builder

QPR host fellow high-flyers Reading on Friday night and I have three selections for a Boosted Bet Builder.

It’s fourth versus third in the Championship, and let’s be honest, while some had been talking about Mick Beale in glowing terms before he took over at QPR, not many were expecting a play-off challenge from Reading.

And that’s why Paul Ince deserves the utmost credit for making one of the relegation favourites so competitive this season.

The Royals have the least possession in the Championship, they average 10 touches in the box per game and just over seven shots per 90, but whatever Ince is doing, it’s working so far, while son Tom has also been working his absolute socks off.

When John Swift left, I thought the Berkshire club would suffer and the Baggies would prosper. In fact it’s been the opposite, much to my surprise.

How long the Royals can sustain their lofty position in the table while putting up the numbers they are remains to be seen, but fans must be delighted to be averaging nearly two points a game in October.

QPR had a big result in midweek but it came with a cost. Chris Willock looks set for more time on the sidelines and keeper Seny Dieng left the field nursing an injury.

Despite this, I’m liking what I’ve seen from the Hoops and they kick off my Boosted Bet Builder for the Friday night Championship clash.

When I travelled to watch QPR versus Stoke before the international break, I liked a set-piece the hosts tried with Kenneth Paal arriving late at the back post. I’m not brave enough to put him up in my Bet Builder, but I’ll be watching to see if they try it again.

I was looking to put notebook regular Sam Hutchinson into my Bet Builder but the price of Junior Hoilett to be carded is the one that caught my eye.

The former Ranger is already well on his way to make it the fourth successive season of more cards than goals, but in his defence he is now plying his trade as a wing-back and he was in good form against Norwich in midweek.

However, he has committed 14 fouls and received three cards so far this campaign and he could have his hands full should he find himself facing up to the box of tricks that is Ilias Chair.

Talking of Chair, he’s my final selection in the Bet Builder and I’m backing him to have Over 0.5 Shots on Target having had seven in his last seven appearances.

QPR to Win – 19/20
Ilias Chair Over 0.5 Shots on Target – 8/13
Junior Hoilett to be Booked – 5/1

Bet Builder boosted from 16/1 to 20/1
