Aussie Rules: Stephenson to return for Roos

North Melbourne coach David Noble has suggested Jaidyn Stephenson could make his return to AFL action when they face the Gold Coast on Saturday.

The Kangaroos are priced at 13/2 to beat the Suns in Darwin and Stephenson looks set to get the nod to play after impressing in the VFL.

More intensity needed

Stephenson has had a tough campaign so far after being dropped from the senior side on two occasions. Noble has said he wants to see more intensity from the player.

The Roos coach admits that can be hard to show when playing VFL. But the player appears to have done enough to earn a recall this weekend after impressing for the reserves in his last game.

"He did (manage to bring intensity) to a degree," Noble told reporters. "It's difficult to generate that intensity and pressure at times with VFL, the standard is difficult and awkward at times.

"We saw a fair bit of his run from back to forward through the midfield, so he's certainly put himself back in contention."

Testing conditions

Meanwhile Noble admits the humidity in Darwin has to be taken into consideration when it comes to selecting his forward line to face the Gold Coast.

"With the game being a bit slippery, it might allow us to go a bit smaller up there," Noble added. "Cam (Zurhaar) is a good ground-level player, but it's unlikely for us to bring another tall in, so we'll have to reshape the forward end."
