Snooker World Rankings 2023/24: Luca Brecel up to world no.2 following Crucible success

The snooker world rankings system is based on prize money won over a two-year period across numerous ranking events, including the World Snooker Championship, Masters and UK Championship.

Originally, world rankings were solely determined by players' performances in the World Championship, however, this changed during the 1976/77 campaign when other competitions were awarded ranking status.

World ranking points are based on performances at competitions over a two-year period, with eight revisions taking place each year.

Ronnie O'Sullivan remains the world number one heading into the forthcoming 2023/24 season despite his quarter-final elimination at the recent World Snooker Championship.

The Rocket has been at the summit of the two-year list for over 12 months, but Luca Brecel, the new world champion, has closed the gap - now trailing the seven-time Crucible champion by just 9,500 points.
