Louis Rees-Zammit is a professional rugby union player, who represents Gloucester and Wales on the wing.
Rees-Zammit was born in the small town of Penarth in the Vale of Glamorgan, exactly three miles south of Cardiff city centre.
He attended The Cathedral School, Llandaff, and played rugby for the school team. Rugby runs in Rees-Zammit's family, with his uncle Paul "Pablo" Rees representing Cardiff RFC in the 1980s.
Alongside his Welsh roots, Rees-Zammit also has Maltese heritage on his father's side, with his paternal grandfather emigrating to London from Malta.
Rees-Zammit is 21 years old. He was born on 2nd February 2001.
Rees-Zammit has played professional rugby for Premiership side Gloucester since 2018, after spending his youth career at Cardiff Blues and then Hartpury College.
Rees-Zammit plays as a winger for club and country, and is renowned for his blistering speed and try-scoring ability.
Rees-Zammit will be forced to sit out Wales' opening two Six Nations matches against Ireland and Scotland due to an ankle injury suffered for Gloucester in December, but should return to fitness mid-tournament.
Rees-Zammit has wowed rugby fans with his speed since emerging onto the scene, earning the nickname 'Rees Lightning'.
The 21-year-old's top speed was clocked at 10.73 metres per second in a match for Wales against the Barbarians in 2021, making him the third quickest rugby player in the world at the moment behind English duo Adam Radwan and Christian Wade respectively.
Rees-Zammit has registered eight international tries for Wales, including four during a sensational debut Six Nations campaign in 2021.
Rees-Zammit was part of the British & Irish Lions squad for their 2021 tour of South Africa. His inclusion made him the youngest player since 1959 to be selected for a Lions tour at the age of 20 years and 93 days.
Since becoming a Lion, Rees-Zammit has scored an impressive three tries in four appearances.
