Chris Kreider believes netminder Igor Shesterkin instils confidence for the New York Rangers that they can turnaround their Eastern Conference series against the Carolina Hurricanes.
The Rangers, 22/1 to win the Stanley Cup and 13/5 to win from behind in their series with the Hurricanes, had a goal from Kreider and 43 saves from Shesterkin contributing to a 3-1 Game 3 win on Sunday.
Shesterkin faced some questions about his form in New York's First Round series against the Pittsburgh Penguins after he was pulled from back-to-back games.
However, at 3-1 down, he won the final three games of the series making a combined 99 saves on 105 shots to quash any doubts about his post-season prowess.
Against the Hurricanes, Shesterkin has stopped 87 of 91 shots seeing his save-percentage rise to .921 and goals-against-average (GAA) lower to 2.95.
Shesterkin is a finalist for both the Hart Trophy as the NHL's most valuable player and the Vezina Trophy as the league's best goalie after posting a sensational .935 save-percentage and 2.07 GAA over 53 regular season games.
