Rugby Union is in the spotlight on Saturday as the Six Nations begins with a clash between Wales and Ireland in Cardiff, before England play host to Scotland at Twickenham later on in the day.

Ireland go into the new Six Nations tournament as the 5/4 favourites To Win Outright, but they face a huge test of their mettle in their opener against hosts Wales in the Principality Stadium.

They will do so without experienced prop forward Tadhg Furlong due to injury, but veteran fly-half Johnny Sexton has recovered from a facial injury to captain his side, who are currently ranked as the number one team in the world.

The hosts are back under the charge of Warren Gatland, who has started his second spell at the helm by appointing veteran hooker Ken Owens as captain, but he has had to make a late change - drafting Liam Williams in to replace back injury victim Leigh Halfpenny at full-back.

The Irish have lost on their last four Six Nations visits to Cardiff, with their last success coming back in 2013, when they claimed a 30-22 victory.

England will hope to make an immediate impact under new head coach Steve Borthwick when they play host to Scotland at Twickenham, with Gregor Townsend's side looking to complete a hat-trick of wins over the Red Rose for the first time since 1972.

Borthwick promised to select on form rather than reputation and London Irish wing Ollie Hassell-Collins is a beneficiary, as he will make his England debut on one of the biggest stages in the game.

Captain Owen Farrell starts at 12 and is partnered in the centres by Joe Marchant, while for the visitors Townsend has also made some big calls.

Huw Jones and Sione Tuipulotu have been handed starts in midfield, with British and Irish Lions centre Chris Harris starting on the bench, while fellow Lion, scrum-half Ali Price, has missed out on selection altogether.

Premier League: Gunners aim to go eight clear

With Manchester City not in action until Sunday, Arsenal have an opportunity to move eight points clear at the top of the Premier League by claiming all three points from their trip to Goodison Park to take on lowly Everton.

The Gunners have lost just once in the league so far this season and have dropped just two points from a possible 24 in their last eight top-flight outings.

In contrast, Everton are currently only off the bottom of the table by virtue of goal difference and have turned to former Burnley boss Sean Dyche as the man they hope can lead them to safety, despite the Toffees failing to add to their squad on transfer deadline day.

The positive note for the Merseysiders comes with the fact that they are unbeaten in their last four league games at home to the Londoners and have won the last two clashes at Goodison Park 2-1, with a repeat of that scoreline on Saturday available at 25/1.
