Chelsea's disappointing season appeared to reach a new low on Sunday, as they suffered a 2-0 defeat at London rivals Tottenham, a result that has ramped up the pressure on head coach Graham Potter.

Oliver Skipp's first goal in Tottenham colours and a 20th strike of the season for Harry Kane sealed the victory for Spurs, who have moved four points clear of Newcastle in the race to finish in the top four.

The meeting at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium was the only Premier League fixture that took place on Sunday, but there were seven matches across the rest of the weekend, with title rivals Arsenal and Manchester City both earning victories on the road.

At the other end of the table, Javi Gracia began life as Leeds head coach by claiming a crucial victory over relegation rivals Southampton, while there was also a much-needed win for David Moyes and West Ham, who joined the Whites in moving out of the bottom three.

Pressure mounting on Potter

Chelsea went into Sunday's match having won just one of their 10 matches across all competitions in 2023 and with only one goal scored in their previous five, but they knew a victory over Tottenham could have potentially reignited their top-four hopes.

However, it proved to be another disastrous day for the Blues and their head coach Potter, as a thunderbolt strike from academy graduate Skipp put Spurs in front just 19 seconds into the second half before the ever-reliable Kane rounded off the victory inside the final 10 minutes.

The defeat leaves Chelsea 10th in the Premier League, a full 14 points off the top-four positions and priced at 50/1 to end the season in the Champions League places, while further questions will now be asked regarding Potter's future at Stamford Bridge.

For Tottenham, it was a fourth win in their last five top-flight games and another victory that was achieved in the absence of head coach Antonio Conte, who continues his recovery from gallbladder surgery.

Spurs are 11/8 in the To Finish in Top 4 market and, with Liverpool having also dropped points this weekend and Newcastle focusing on the EFL Cup final, Conte's team could now be in pole position to secure Champions League football for next season.

Title rivals win on the road

The status quo at the top of the standings remains after leaders Arsenal and second-placed Manchester City both claimed away victories on Saturday.

Arsenal were looking to build on last weekend's come-from-behind victory over Aston Villa and, while their 1-0 success at Leicester did not have the same drama, the Gunners showed plenty of grit and determination to grind out a victory that could prove just as crucial come the end of the season.

Gabriel Martinelli scored the only goal of the contest early in the second half for Mikel Arteta's side, who briefly opened up a five-point lead at the top of the standings with the victory, with City not in action until after the final whistle at the King Power Stadium.

The pressure was certainly on City as they kicked off at the Vitality Stadium against struggling Bournemouth, especially as Pep Guardiola's side had only won one of their previous six away matches across all competitions.

However, if there were any signs of nerves, the Citizens didn't show it, as strikes from Julian Alvarez, Erling Haaland - who broke the club's single-season goalscoring record with his 27th top-flight strike of the campaign, Phil Foden and a Chris Mepham own goal put them in complete control, although a spirited Bournemouth did grab a late consolation through Jefferson Lerma.

That win saw City close the gap at the top of the table back down to two points and leaves them 1/1 to finish the season as champions in the To Win Outright market. Meanwhile Arsenal, who also have a game in hand on the Citizens, are 1/1.

Winning start for Gracia at Elland Road

The big game at the foot of the standings this weekend came at Elland Road as Leeds, who were 19th at kick-off and had Gracia taking charge for the first time, entertained rock-bottom Southampton, who had just appointed interim boss Ruben Selles as their new permanent manager.

This was always going to be a game of fine margins, but it was Leeds that took the three points and their first top-flight win since before the World Cup thanks to an unlikely source, as Junior Firpo struck his first Premier League goal.

That result lifted the Whites out of the bottom three and they are now 7/4 in the To Be Relegated market, while the Saints are four points adrift of safety and 1/3 to go down.

West Ham also moved out of the danger zone thanks to an emphatic and much-needed 4-0 victory over Nottingham Forest at the London Stadium.

A Danny Ings brace - his first goals for the club - as well as strikes from Declan Rice and Michail Antonio helped the Hammers to what, in the end, proved a comfortable victory, which has also eased the pressure on under-fire boss Moyes.

The win has also lifted West Ham two points clear of the drop zone and they are 6/1 in the To Be Relegated market, while Forest, who are just two points better off than the Hammers, are 2/1 to end the season in the bottom three.

Those victories for Leeds and West Ham also meant Everton slipped back into the relegation zone following their first home defeat under Sean Dyche. The Toffees lost 2-0 at home to Aston Villa - Ollie Watkins and Emi Buendia with the goals - and they are now 11/10 to go down.

Liverpool's miserable week ends with a whimper

This time last week it appeared Liverpool were finally getting their season on track following back-to-back league wins over Everton in the Merseyside derby and top-four rivals Newcastle.

However, Jurgen Klopp's side were brought crashing back down to earth as they were thrashed 5-2 on home soil by Real Madrid in the first leg of their Champions League last 16 tie on Tuesday and they followed that up with a forgettable goalless draw at Crystal Palace on Saturday night.

That result leaves the Reds seventh in the league standings and they are 2/1 To Finish in Top 4, while Palace remain without a win in 2023, a run of nine matches across all competitions which has increased the 9/1 possibility of Patrick Vieira's side ending the season in relegation.

It may feel like a lifetime ago now, but there was also a match on Friday, as European hopefuls Fulham drew 1-1 with Wolves at Craven Cottage.

Pablo Sarabia's first Premier League goal had Wolves in front in west London, but substitute Manor Solomon struck for the third game in a row to salvage a point for Marco Silva's impressive hosts.
