NHL - US Sports: Penguins can progress without Crosby

Jake Guentzel says the potential absence of captain Sidney Crosby won't stop the Pittsburgh Penguins progressing from their Eastern Conference first-round series.

The Penguins hold a 3-2 lead in the best-of-seven series against the New York Rangers and are 4/9 to prevail and 18/1 to go on to win the Stanley Cup, which you can watch on our Sports Live Streaming platform.

All to play for

Pittsburgh had the opportunity to eliminate the Rangers in game five on Wednesday but gave up a 2-0 lead to lose 5-3 after Crosby was forced to leave the game in the second period following a hit by Jacob Trouba.

Crosby played two shifts after the awkward collision but wasn't able to continue with coach Mike Sullivan saying his "upper-body injury" is "being evaluated" after the game.

Three-time Stanley Cup champion Crosby has nine points (two goals, seven assists) in the five games of the series, while 27-year-old winger Guentzel has seven goals in the series - scoring in every game so far.

Guentzel confident of progression

Game six of the series is on Friday in Pittsburgh where the Penguins outscored the Rangers 14-6 in games three and four.

Guentzel said to the media: "We've got plenty of leaders on the team that have been through a lot. You never want to see a player like that leave, but we've got the group to step up. We have a lot of capable guys in the locker room. We've got to find a way."
