NFL: AFC Divisional Playoffs Preview

The two best teams with the top-performing quarterbacks in the AFC are favoured to progress in the Divisional Round of the playoffs this weekend.

But the Jacksonville Jaguars, who go to the Kansas City Chiefs' Arrowhead Stadium, and reigning conference champion Cincinnati Bengals have other ideas.

Chiefs can call tune in Kansas

The Jaguars do not match up that well to the Chiefs, who beat them 27-17 in November when they were going through some growing pains on offence.

Jacksonville walk taller now thanks to the burgeoning talent of QB Trevor Lawrence and he should be older and wiser after his experience in last Sunday's wild comeback win at the Los Angeles Chargers.

After being picked off four times and putting his team in a 21-0 hole at half-time, the former Clemson star led a stunning 31-30 comeback win with four TD throws.

And it is worth noting that the Jaguars outscored the Chiefs 17-7 after falling behind by 20 points in the first half of their regular season encounter.

But Jacksonville's secondary have struggled against elite opponents and that's exactly what they go up against here in Patrick Mahomes, Travis Kelce and co.

Look for Mahomes to put up some big numbers, which the Jaguars won't be able to rival and the Chiefs, who are 6-3 against the spread in the playoffs since he became the starter in 2018, to cover the -8.5 point Spread at 10/11.

Too close to call in New York

OddsCIN Bengals 2/1, BUF Bills 5/12

It's a rematch of the Week 17 game that was rightly cancelled when Bills safety Damar Hamlin went into cardiac arrest on the field, but it's also worth remembering that if the Bengals had won that Monday night matchup, and they were leading early, this contest would have been played in Cincinnati.

Both teams leaned on their defences to dodge home upsets over Wild Card weekend, with the Bengals requiring a 98-yard fumble return from Sam Hubbard to shake off the Baltimore Ravens and the Bills' unit finally stepping up in the fourth quarter to stop Miami's potent offence.

Neither of the beaten teams had a starting-calibre QB under center, so this matchup ought to be full of offense and points.

Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow struggled a little on a cold day at Paul Brown Stadium, completing under 60% of his pass attempts for 215 yards and one TD.

But he has now won all four of his career NFL starts when the game-time temperature was 32 degrees or under, which it is scheduled to be in Buffalo.

Josh Allen, who threw 14 interceptions in the regular season, was picked off twice more by the Dolphins and he also fumbled two more times to take his tally for the year also to 16.

He made up for it with a couple of exquisite touchdown throws to Cole Beasley and Gabe Davis in the third quarter as he turned on his clutch mode.

The Bills defence should cause a banged-up Bengals O-line plenty of problems, probably forcing Burrow to make some quicker throws to intermediate or backfield targets.

But the big question here is whether the Bengals can stop Allen threading the needle to a reliable receiving corps or using his legs on third down to move the chains.

They struggled to contain Lamar Jackson in a 19-17 loss to the Ravens earlier this season when the dual-threat QB ran for 58 yards on 12 carries and made two first downs.

Five of the last six games at Highmark Stadium have surpassed 48 point Total for this game and with two talented offenses on show it looks one for Overs players at 10/11.
