Newsletter continued her recovery from injury with an impressive victory in the 2130m Anne and Rob Gartrell Pace at Gloucester Park on Friday night.
Newsletter suffered tendon damage in both her forelegs but trainer Mike Howie was always confident his charge would make a return to action and start winning again.
That was the case on Friday night when star reinswoman Emily Suvaljko guided Newsletter to victory. It was her first drive with Newsletter and they combined to notch an impressive all-the-way win.
Howie was confident heading into the race going off some of her previous performances and Newsletter did not let him down.
“I have patched her up and her past five starts have been very good,” Howie said after the win. “I was confident she would win, following her performance when ninth behind Savvy Bromac in the Breeders Stakes the previous week.

“She started from barrier nine and recorded the fastest final 800m (56.16sec.) and the fastest last 400m (28sec.) the race.
“Her form before that was excellent against some very good horses. At her two runs before the Breeders Stakes she finished third behind Booraa and third behind Eldaytona.”
Newsletter jumped from barrier one and never looked back to beat Miss Boudica by four metres. She now has six win and 17 placings from 48 starts and has earned almost $64,000 in prize money.
