Mike Moroney feels that punters can expect an improved performance from Buffalo River when the six-year-old takes on the Stradbroke Handicap on Saturday.
The Melbourne Cup-winning trainer is confident that the son of Noble Mission, a 50/1 shot for the Group 1 contest, can run well should he make the final field. You can follow the action via our Sports Live Streaming service.
Buffalo River, a British import, led most of the way in last month's Group 3 BRC Sprint under Opie Bosson, only being overhauled late on to finish sixth in what was his first start in a Queensland campaign.

Moroney felt his charge was unsuited by the race being rescheduled to a week later than originally planned due to heavy rain and hopes for a change of fortune this weekend.
"There was a bit of time between runs anyway and to have that extra time was not what we wanted and hence he had a decent blow after the race," the trainer told Racing.com.
"Opie said he'd just come to the end of it at about the 150-metre mark. He was only a length off them, so he's got a lot of improvement left in him, I would think. It's a Stradbroke, so he'd need to improve a bit."
