Milan v Tottenham Bet Boosts: Olivier Giroud to punish porous Spurs

The Champions League is back and we have even bigger odds as Tottenham travel to the San Siro for their last-16 first-leg clash.

It’s a ground that’s hosted two unforgettable fixtures from a Spurs perspective. The 4-3 defeat which saw the emergence of Gareth Bale with his second-half hat-trick against Inter, plus Peter Crouch’s late winner against Milan, and Antonio Conte will be hoping for a result to take back to North London.

It goes without saying that Tottenham will need a big performance from their talisman Harry Kane if they are to take anything from Italy, and their captain has been BOOSTED from 11/1 to 12/1 to score with a header.

While Tottenham haven’t kicked on as many thought they would this season, they may be playing Milan at the perfect time.

Stefano Piolo has found himself under huge pressure following a wretched run of five losses and two draws in all competitions before stopping the rot with a 1-0 win over Torino on Friday.

Olivier Giroud scored on that occasion, and the former Arsenal man will surely be keen to bag a fifth goal against Spurs on Tuesday night, particularly considering the concerning form of Rafael Leao.

The Portguese starlet registered eight goal contributions in his first seven Serie A games this season, but has blanked in his last four, starting from the bench in Milan’s 5-2 defeat to Sassuolo and their 1-0 defeat to rivals Inter.

In general, though, scoring goals hasn’t been a big problem for Milan this season – in Serie A, eight of their players have found the net more than once – but keeping them out certainly has, shipping 14 in the five games prior to their clean sheet on Friday night, and while the away goals rule is no longer in effect, Conte will be keen to exploit the Rossoneri at the San Siro.

Tottenham have been similarly porous – surprisingly so considering their manager – and they won’t be helped by the fact that Rodrigo Bentancur has joined Hugo Lloris on the long-term injury list, potentially opening the game up to be a high-scoring affair.

Conte must have been hopeful his side had turned a corner with three straight wins – and clean sheets – including an impressive win against Manchester City, but their 4-1 defeat to Leicester was a huge setback in their hopes of retaining their Champions League status.

Despite their shaky form which has seen them fall out of the top four, Milan are slight favourites, and a home win, Giroud goal and both teams to score has been BOOSTED from 7/1 to 15/2.
