King Of Swing has been retired after wrapping up an historic third Miracle Mile success at Tabcorp Park Menangle on Saturday night.
King Of Swing is the only horse to have won the race three times and connections have now decided it is the ideal time for their star pacer to retire from the sport.
Trained by Belinda McCarthy, King Of Swing retires with 44 wins from 82 races and has picked up over $3million in prizemoney.
He was the hot fancy heading into the race and did not let his supporters down when beating stablemate Spirit Of St Louis, who took second, while Better Eclipse came third.
Sugars rues Miracle Mile postponement
With Luke McCarthy in the sulky, King Of Swing did not have everything go his way as Mach Dan crossed him at the start of the race to take up the lead.
However McCarthy managed to keep his cool and regain the lead before taking the win.
The rest of the field put up a fight and attempted to chase down King Of Swing, but he was too good and held of Spirit Of St Louis who was just over a metre behind him.
"That was just a massive thrill," McCarthy told Sky Racing after the win. "After the week we've had and still being able to have him at that level to be able to win a Miracle Mile is unbelievable.
"It's kind of surreal. You dream of winning the Miracle Mile as a driver and to win three in-a-row on this horse has just been so special and it's just a dream come true."
