NRL: Keary concern for Roosters

The Sydney Roosters have concerns over Luke Keary after the playmaker suffered another concussion in Saturday’s defeat against the Melbourne Storm.

The Roosters are looking to finish in the top eight of the NRL at the very least this season but suffered a setback when going down 26-18 against the Storm at the SCG..

Keary concussion

Just to make matters worse Keary took a knee to the back of the head in the 30th minute of the game and had to leave the field for a head injury assessment.

He was unable to return to the field after failing it and it is a big concern considering he has a history of head knocks.

Coach Trent Robinson confirmed after the game that Keary was okay, but not in any shape to get back on to the pitch.

"He was OK in the sheds but not good enough to go back on the field," Robinson told reporters."He got the knock and he's come off, so I can't give you much more than that."

History of issues

Keary suffered five head knocks spread across the 2018 and 2019 seasons and was ordered to take a five-week break away from game. And skipper James Tedesco hopes he avoids something similar this time.

"It was a weird one, I saw him go down and point at his head," Tedesco added. "I've seen Luke go through a bit of a hard time with that. It's a bit of a worry when he doesn't come back on and hopefully it's not as last time."
