The Clippers were dealt a huge blow ahead of Friday's game against the Pelicans as star man Paul George was ruled out due to the NBA's health and safety protocols.
The Pelicans made a strong start and held an eight-point lead by the end of the third quarter but the Clippers fought back and led by as much as 13 points early in the fourth, only for New Orleans to mount a response of their own as they went on to claim a 105-101 win in LA.
Former Laker Brandon Ingram led the game in scoring as the New Orleans forward weighed in with 30 points, six rebounds and six assists to send the Pelicans to the playoffs and line-up a best-of-seven series against Phoenix.
Atlanta, who reached the Eastern Conference finals last season, trailed by 11 points at the end of the first quarter in Cleveland but a huge performance from guard Trae Young turned the game around.
The Hawks star finished the game with 38 points and nine assists as Atlanta won 107-101, outscoring the Cans 23-17 in the fourth quarter to secure their playoffs spot.
