It's a huge week in the sport of greyhound racing with semi-finals of numerous competitions taking place and Racing Post tipster Dave Clark has pinpointed his ones to watch. 

On Friday night, Romford stage qualifiers for two £10,000 events – the Golden Sprint and Coronation Cup –  then on Saturday night Monmore hosts the semis of the £20,000 Midlands Puppy Derby.

Syd to shoot clear in Puppy Derby Semi

The Richard Rees-trained Churchfield Syd (9/2) shot to the head of the antepost betting for the Midlands Puppy Derby after a sensational display in the opening round last week and can go all the way in the £20,000 event.

On Saturday night three semi-finals of the Puppy Derby will be staged and this exciting son of top sire Droopys Sydney has the perfect launchpad to work from out wide in trap six.

He appeals for outright honours as the only wide seed left in the competition, he is guaranteed plenty of racing room out wide with rivals moving inside looking for the rail.

In the first of the semis on Saturday night, speedy rival Slick Saratoga will move inside from trap five and is likely to hinder the well fancied Bradys Bullet from trap four.

With his perfect draw and electric early speed, Churchfield Syd is a must-bet for punters at 6.48.

Maverick holds all the aces in Puppy Derby Semi

Northern Puppy Derby champion Links Maverick (9/2) joins Churchfield Syd and Droopys Fidget at the head of the betting for the 480m competition at Monmore and can go marching on into another big final with another win in the second Midlands Puppy Derby on Saturday night.

Despite switching from an inside draw out to trap four at 7.24, Tom Heilbron's youngster can dominate throughout with two slow starters on his inside.

Liz McNair's powerful trackers Havana Top Note and Havana Allago will be rattling home but both are typically slowly into stride and will offer up very little opposition for Links Maverick into the first turn.

Both are runners for forecast and tri-cast punters to consider.

Sheffield raider Fearsome Quest (16/1) caught the eye in defeat last week and is well drawn out wide, he is the main danger.

Coast is clear for Cooliogold

Maxine Locke's Cooliogold (12/1) is likely to be headed by Droopys Fidget in the betting for the third Midlands Puppy Derby semi-final at 8.03, but he has the draw to scoot clear and follow up his impressive first-round heat success last week.

The key to this race is Sharon Saberton's pacey Mallogs Calvin moving inside from trap three, which could spell trouble for the inside duo.

With inside crowding likely, Locke's speedy pup can blast clear into the bend from trap four and won't be for catching if asserting early on.

This exciting and lightly raced youngster recently returned from injury and his first race back was the only defeat he has suffered on these shores.

Now back in the groove and with more to come, he is fancied to make all in his semi but is not one to be underestimated for outright honours also.
