Harness Racing: Graham duo ready for Trot Rods series

Top reinsman Shane Graham says he has high hopes for his two drives on night two of the Trot Rods series at Redcliffe on Wednesday night.

Graham was watching on from the sidelines when the heats got underway last Wednesday night but will be out on the track on night two and thinks his charges will be in the mix.

Graham feeling upbeat

The Trot Rods series will have heats at Redcliffe every Wednesday night until the last 10 heats take place on 25th May.

The winner of the series will be the horse that clocks the fastest time throughout the heats, and Graham thinks he could be in with a shout.

Graham has Roberts Delight in race one on Wednesday night and then Kookaburraprincess will go in race two.

“I like the series. It’s a bit different, they are penalty-free races which is great, and they give you options with the right sorts of horses,” Graham said.

“Kookaburraprincess would be the best of my two hopes this week. She needed the run first-up and got attacked in front. She’ll improve a heap on that and I think she will go very close to winning that.”

Im Loki the danger

Graham says Roberts Delight will also be competitive but believes Im Loki is the one to beat in that race.

“I’d love to lead, but I don’t think we’ll have the speed to hold out Im Loki. We’ll be trying though,” he added.

“Even if we got behind the leader, I think we’d give it a shake. Im Loki is the one to beat. He’s very fast, but just struggles to run a strong mile so this series really suits.”
