Barney - 55 - rolled back the years to reach the last eight in a TV event for the first time since returning to the sport last February, defying a 101 average from Simon Whitlock to prevail 10-8.

Novak Djokovic's quest for a record-equalling sixth ATP Finals crown continues when he stares down Daniil Medvedev in Turin.

Djokovic is aiming to tie Roger Federer's record six titles at the event and felt he played 'very, very well' when seeing off Andrey Rublev 6-4, 6-1 to seal his progress from the group stage.

Djokovic leads the head-to-head with Medvedev 7-4 and the 35-year-old is 1/3 to extend that record further over his 28-year-old opponent, who is out of the reckoning after back-to-back defeats.

UK Championship: Quarter-final action in York

All four quarter-final matches at the UK Championship will be played on Friday at the York Barbican, as the first of snooker's Triple Crown events reaches the business end.

Mark Allen has been a player in form of late and new trim-looking former Masters champion is 2/7 to take care of Sam Craigie when they get under way at 13:00.

Allen won six of the last seven frames when dispatching Kyren Wilson in the previous round and has already won the Northern Ireland Open this season.

Ronnie O'Sullivan needed only 90 minutes to dispatch Zhou Yuelong in the last-16, though the seven-time UK champion may face more of a test against Ding Junhui in the afternoon's other clash.
