Brad Fittler has cooled suggestions he is in the frame to become the next coach of the Canterbury Bulldogs following the departure of Trent Barrett.
The Bulldogs are priced at 21/50 to finish in the top eight of the NRL but they have had a shocking start to the season, winning just two games, and that has resulted in Barrett quitting as coach.

Fittler is the current coach of the New South Wales State of Origin side but is seen as a contender for the Bulldogs job due to his connections with Canterbury footy boss Phil Gould.
However for now he is just focused on the Blues and State of Orgin with game one of the series against Queensland set to take place on 8th June.

“I’ll be coaching the Blues in a couple of weeks,” Fittler said on SEN 1170 Breakfast. “I think I’ll stick to the Blues. I’ve got one job at the moment, that’s the walk with Royce and then the next one is to coach the Blues n a couple of weeks.”
Despite playing down the talk, the rumours are sure to rumble on until an appointment is made. Shane Flanagan and Paul Green are also known to be in the frame.
Fittler was again pressed by SEN host Andrew Voss, but again the Blues coach played it with a straight bat.
“Vossy, I’ve got one job at the moment and that’s to walk with Royce and the next one is to coach the Blues in a couple of weeks,” Fittler added.
